Pepper's Paws has dedicated May's feature to raising awareness of Black Dog and Cat Syndrome. Black dogs and cats languish longer in shelters than any other color animal. No one knows for sure why these animals take longer to find homes. Maybe it's because they don't photograph as well as their lighter counterparts, or maybe it's because people are superstitious or afraid of black animals, or maybe they just don't stand out in poorly lit shelters. Whatever the reason, thousands of black animals senselessly die in shelters every year - but it doesn't have to be that way. Pepper's Paws invites to learn about Black Dog Syndrome via the articles and videos below and then please help us raise awareness of the need to find these animals homes and maybe even adopt a black dog or cat your self.
If you have a story or pictures of your black animals, or animals in shelters that you know of, please share with us! Email us at info@pepperspaws.org and tell us your story! You can also post on our FB page as well facebook.com/PeppersPaws - we'd love to hear from you!
